Happy 4th Birthday to The Pink Cart!

Happy 4th Birthday to The Pink Cart!

It’s remarkable to think that it has been four years since the idea for The Pink Cart™ was born. I’ve told the story a hundred times about how I honestly believed if we could sell just a few thousand carts we would be able to turn curbsides pink and start a conversation. Within days of shipping our first carts we were getting calls and emails from people wanting to know where they could get one, strangers stopping at people’s houses to take pictures and send them to friends and family. That first month my husband told me a story about two guys at work commiserating with each other because their wives wanted them to call their trash hauler and order a Pink Cart and they were none too pleased. My husband thought it would upset me, but on the contrary, it was exactly what I hoped for. Ordinarily, under what circumstances would two male engineers have a conversation in front of the microwave over lunch about pink trash cans? It was confirmation that we did indeed start a conversation about Pink Carts and in turn breast cancer, in hundreds of communities across the U.S. and Canada.

Today there are 90,000 Pink Carts rolling to the curb every day and the conversation has really only just begun.

Thanks to all of you wonderful survivors and supporters. We appreciate immensely the community that you have allowed us to be a part of these last four years,
